Sustainability

One planet.

One community doing its best to help protect our world.

  • To operate sustainably wherever possible, reducing harm to our environment. It’s not easy when so many products arrive in plastic but we take our responsibilities seriously.

  • GreenFest, hugely successful in 2019 and 2022, grew from our shop eco-team and we are proud to have played such an essential role. We’ve also ran workshops such as making reusable Christmas trees from wood.

  • Fresh milk on tap. Refillable cleaning products. Waste not foods. Card pots for salad, not plastic, and eco-friendly cups - with money off if you bring your own. Plastic free toys and gifts. Let us know if you have further suggestions please.

  • Our nearby orchard has 80 heritage fruit trees and fruiting hedges, ready to supply our kitchen and shop with freshly-picked fruit. You can’t get less food miles than this!

  • Ecobricking removes single use plastic from the environment by packing it tightly into plastic bottles that act as bricks. We built Sammy the Snake at the local primary school, but Covid put paid to our plans to build more. For now, our ecobricking projects are on hold, but we are happy to support other communities wishing to do likewise.
