Candlelit Market 2025
Another great success — even if we say so ourselves. The weather was kind (rain before, rain after, but not a drop on the day!).
We welcomed 55 brilliant artisan stallholders, enjoyed live music from talented local musicians, were treated to delicious food and drink, entertained by kids’ activities, and wowed by beautiful lighting that made the whole place sparkle.
A huge thank you to the many volunteers who gave their time, energy and good humour to make the day so special. Your ability to stay cheerful while answering the question “Where’s the parking?” 600 times is awe inspiring. We truly couldn’t do it without you all!
The stallholders
Over 50 artisan stallholders with an amazing array of beautiful wares. All you need for Christmas, and beyond. Scroll down to see who is coming!
Live Music
What a line up! We welcome ‘Strings Attached’, a local duo (Ron and Rosie); our very own ‘Scampy’ (David from Compton and Jenny from Hampstead Norreys), the debut of 15-year-old singer Miriam from Hampstead Norreys, ‘One Lump or Two’ (Tom, Martyn and Lynette, all from Hampstead Norreys) and Heliotrope Pyjama, a local band. Should be fun!
Food and Drink
Delicious food from the Community Café and Colline’s Kitchen from Newbury (scroll down to find the menu for both). And of course Mulled Wine and local Mulled Apple Juice.
Free Children’s Activity
This year, children are invited to find their very own elf name, then dress up (clothes provided) for their very own elf photo.
The Owls!
Back by popular demand, Lu of the Owl Conservation Project is bringing her owls to entertain and delight.
A Trio of Tombolas
Three tombolas are on offer - one for children, one for adults, and one for anyone who loves chocolate! Some amazing bargains to be had!
Parking
You will find parking spaces at the Village Hall, the School (access opposite the Village Hall, not from Newbury Hill) and the White Hart pub. There is also parking on the roads but please park considerately and carefully, remembering there will be a lot of pedestrians. And please bring a torch - there are no streetlights in Hampstead Norreys.
Our advice is to come a little later - by about 5:30pm parking becomes much easier. And you get to experience the market at its best with the beautiful lighting.
If you have a blue badge and need parking nearby, please let us know in advance - ring 07765 501287 and we will do our best to help.
Toilets
The shop/café loo, wheelchair accessible, can be found to the side of the shop, and there will also be a portaloo nearby.
Access
Pedestrian access is via the B4009 - we are just past the Church on your right if you are coming from Newbury. The ground is flat, but is gravel. Any questions about access please ring 07765 501287.
